St. Muredach’s Cathedral, Ballina, Co. Mayo
CHH worked on St. Muredach’s Cathedral in Ballina, a protected structure that is recorded in the National Inventory of Architectural Heritage.
We provided a structural survey of the existing timber roof trusses and ceiling support rafters, as well as the balcony structure and underground crypt. CHH then carried out structural repairs to existing cracking over a number of arches and door heads. Structural repairs were also carried out on the existing roof trusses and ceiling rafters. We then worked on repairing the existing plasterwork on the ceiling of the Cathedral and all associated decorative ribs and mouldings. Additional services we worked on were the repointing of external stone, repair works to the detailed stonework at parapets, pinnacles, tower, window, mullions and tracery, as well as strengthening of the existing balcony structure.
